Santa, Get Your Gun! (Christmas in Texas Part 1)

The first leg of our Texas adventure brought us to Grandaddy and Grandma's house in Taylor. We were excited to get there and spend a few days enjoying the warmer weather and getting to play OUTSIDE! Yippee!

Brody asked Grandaddy to show him how to shoot, and before I knew it, they were shooting a pellet gun at a target propped against a tree. Welcome to Texas, folks! Brody has been talking about this moment for years, and it's hard to believe that he's old enough now to go out hunting with Grandaddy. He got a long safety talk first and was closely monitored, and in my mind there is no better person to teach him than his Grandaddy. :)

That night we took a drive "downtown" to the square to look at lights and visit Santa. Emmeline decided she needed to eat right when we got there, so I stayed in our car while everyone else walked around.

After looking at the lights in the square, they wanted to continue the fun, but E was still eating. SO, the boys packed into Grandaddy and Grandma's car to take a short drive around town. (It's ok, you can judge me now. But this is how we roll in small town Texas!)

backseat full of fun, and two too many passengers!
The weather the next day was cold and rainy, so we mostly stayed indoors. Aunt Allyson and Aunt Bethany led the boys in some cookie decorating.

Then Brody showed Aunt Bethany how to use the Rainbow Loom.

And finally, they topped off the fun by baking cupcakes!

Miss E got lots of cuddles from her aunties, too!

What else do you do with all that energy on a cold and rainy day? Run around the garage, that's what!

Merry Christmas, ya'll!
