This year we headed down to Texas to spend Christmas with my family. It had been two years since we had last driven down there, so we were definitely overdue for a visit. Although we have mastered the long road trip with our family, this was the first time taking baby girl on such an expedition. She was amazing! She barely made a peep the entire 16 hours in the car. What a good girl!
People always think we're crazy for attempting these long excursions, but really they are not bad at all. The kids are usually quite entertained, and I always make sure to stock their car bins with new books, markers, stickers etc. We also bring along movies that they either haven't seen in awhile or are new/rentals, so they are excited to sit and watch them in the car. A bag of snacks/treats and plenty of water, and we are good to go!
With Christmas coming so fast after Thanksgiving and the fact that we were traveling for the holidays, I didn't get it together to do our Christmas countdown this year. And, I was severely lacking when it came to our elves. They didn't join us until December 6th, and then they were only moved a handful of times (mostly by Brad!) But I did manage to remember to have them come along for the trip so that they could continue to keep an eye on the kiddos and report back to Santa. The boys thought it was amazing when they realized we had additional passengers in the van. :)
Texas, here we come!
