Pin-Tastic Summer Week 2

This week was Rainbow Week, and what a colorful week it was! I loved all the beautiful projects and the glorious colors--they put me in the summer mood for sure!

Rainbow Rice
This was super quick and easy and was an absolute hit! Each of us picked a color to make, and then we combined all the rice in the sand table outside for some great playtime with our rainbow colored rice and a few scoops, cups, etc. I actually liked rice in the sand table far more than actual sand as I didn't worry about it spilling as much since it would quickly be eaten by our backyard visitors or just disintegrate after a few runs of the sprinkler. I will definitely do this again, maybe with a Costco sized bag of rice to make it last even longer!

Rainbow Ribbon Windsocks
These were so pretty and a cinch to make (with just a little prep ahead of time on my part.) I made sure to have all the ribbons pre-cut so the boys could pick their colors and get to work. Brody did great putting his ribbons on all by himself. Leyton needed a little help from me, and Callan just liked to watch, but all three loved the final products. They ran around letting their ribbons trail behind them, and then they hung them in their rooms for safe keeping.

Fruit Rainbows
Yum yum! These were quite a treat to make, and I know we will be re-visiting this activity in the near future!

Swirly Rainbow Cards
Seemed like a good idea at the time...
These were fun and turned out really pretty, but as my boys like to do, they went a little crazy with the shaving cream! While my back was turned taking care of one of the finished cards, they went to town dipping first their fingers, and then their entire hands, into the tray of shaving cream. In no time, they were covered! Good thing shaving cream is super easy to clean! I can't say we'll be doing this project again anytime soon, but it was fun to try it out. Next time, we'll paint with shaving cream and food coloring in the bathtub!

Watercolor Rainbows
This was a great activity to keep them busy while I made dinner. I just drew rainbows on cardstock, outlined them with gold glitter glue, and let them dry overnight. The next day, they went to town filling them in with all the colors of the rainbow. They turned out really pretty and sparkly!

Yay for Rainbow Week!
