Keeping Busy

Well, I officially have three kids home full-time for the summer! They are all scheduled for various camps and activities, which will start this week, but we are going to be spending quite a bit of time together as well. I love this time of year and spending good quality time with my boys, but I have learned that the best way to tackle summer is to stay busy, busy, busy! They all need lots of time to move around and release their crazy amounts of energy, and getting out of the house always helps! With the complete lack of summer weather we've been having lately, we've had to come up with some new ideas besides the pool, beach, or other outdoor type activities we look forward to this time of year. So far so good, but bring on the sunshine already!!

For our first "official" day of summer vacation, we headed to downtown Linden Hills to stock up on some summer reading. Our first stop was the library, and then we went to visit our animal friends at Wild Rumpus. We had a couple gift cards that we needed to use, so we picked out a few fun things. The boys were so excited about their new books that we spent over an hour reading together in the afternoon!

Later that day, we made a new fairy/gnome garden. This was such a hit last year, and the boys will eagerly tell you how their garden attracted Gregor the Garden Gnome. He left little notes and treats for the kids all summer long. They are hoping he'll come back this summer, and I don't see how he couldn't with such a cute little garden to entice him!
