Brad's sister, Emily, and her family live in Healdsburg, a beautiful little town in Sonoma County. I had been to the wine country for a wedding a few years back, but Brad had never been, and neither of us had been to visit Emily and family since they moved over two years ago. We were really excited to get out for our first visit! Healdsburg is a great place to visit, with many fun shops, restaurants, and a cute little plaza all within walking distance from Emily's home. It also offers access to many river valleys, including Dry Creek Valley, Russian River Valley, and Alexander Valley. There are literally vineyards everywhere you look! The views are gorgeous and the weather was perfect while we were there. Every day was action packed, as you will see from the pictures below...
We enjoyed a picnic at the Bella Winery. Brody and AJ loved running around the big tree.
At the Bella Winery. I can't tell you how hard it was to NOT partake in the wine consumption!
Hiking in Armstrong Woods--we were on the search for Redwood Trees.
Brody was both thrilled and terrified of this hole in the tree. He wondered what lived in it!
I almost stepped on this guy! A giant banana slug, the hit of the hike! Brody really wanted to pick it up-ewww!
After our hike, we headed to Goat Rock Beach on the Sonoma Coast.
AJ and Emily enjoying the beautiful weather!
Brody and Finn had a great time in the sand, and later, chasing seagulls!
Eating freshly caught crab in Bodega Bay. The boys couldn't keep their hands off the "crackers."
The cousins enjoy a bath after their time in the sand. Leyton, Brody, AJ, and Finn
Emily read a bedtime story before the babysitter came. Then she and Joe headed off to a party and Brad and I headed out to a very nice, romantic dinner!
