8 Months!!

Happy 8 Months, Baby Girl! Every day is a new adventure and more fun than the day before! Every  Smith in our household is wishing we could freeze time and keep her at this fun age forever, but at the same time we are enjoying watching all the new things she can do!

In her eighth month of life, Miss Emmeline:

--took her first plane ride and was amazing! She decided to shriek and squeal (happily, thank goodness) all the way down to Texas, probably annoying some people but delighting others.  :)
--had her second ear infection...yuck!
--began rolling onto her tummy while in her crib. At first, this caused her to wake up and fuss because she couldn't remember how to get back over onto her back. After a few weeks, however, she is now rolling over and sleeping on her tummy much of the time.

She has gone crazy with the hair pulling...and not just anyone's hair. Oh no, she prefers to pull her mommy's hair! When she sees me coming in the morning to pick her up from her crib, she immediately puts her arms up and those little fingers go straight for my hair. It's sweet and endearing, but it's also a little painful! Ponytails have become my look du'jour.  Speaking of hair, Emmeline's is really starting to grow a lot more and still looking darker than her brothers. I'm looking forward to seeing what the summer sun will do to the color or if we indeed have a dark-haired girl.

She learned some consonants! It's been nothing but shrieks, squeals, and growls so far, but this month she began saying "ba" and "ga." She is also starting to stick her tongue out and spit a little bit. So adorable!

She weighed in at 20 pounds, 6 ounces at the very beginning of the month and is probably closer to 22 pounds by now. Such a cute little chunk! Have I mentioned how much I adore those chubby legs?!

She's really starting to try to move! In the picture below, you can see how she goes from a sitting position to trying to get on her knees. She rocks back and forth a lot, but usually just ends up flopping down onto her belly. She's not really scooting yet, and that is fine with me. I am perfectly happy to have her sit and play in one spot for as long as I can get it!

Emmeline loves listening to stories and songs, looking at herself in the mirror and laughing, and playing with her big brothers. She is showing such an interest in other babies and has made some new friends this month, especially her new BFF Skylar. :) She is happy as can be and almost always has smiles for anyone.

JOY! That is all I can say about this girl. :)
