Leyton (4)
1st Day as a Strawberry
Ms. Sheryl's Class
Callan (3)
1st Day as a Blueberry
Ms. Michaelanne & Ms. Beth's Class
Leyton is thrilled to be back in school with some of his buddies from last year. He loves his teacher, Ms. Sheryl, and has told me every day so far that his class is the best! Ms. Sheryl thinks he is the sweetest thing around (man, is he fooling her!) and tells me every day about the cute things he says. The first day, as each student decorated their "piece" of the class strawberry puzzle, L suggested that they should all put their hands on the stem and press it in together. Awww! The next day, they made friendship bracelets, with each student representing a different color. Ms. Sheryl gave them all a pretty silver bead to put in the middle to represent herself. Leyton exclaimed that she was in the middle "snuggling" with all of them. That kid can be quite the charmer. (And yes, he really does want to have a candy shop when he grows up, and yes, he insisted that he decorate the sign before holding it up!)
Callan has become quite the big boy in a matter of days. Since he's in the 3 year-old class this year, he is supposed to be potty trained to attend. I have stopped and started potty training all summer with no real success. The biggest issue was that we were just so busy going from here to there that it was always just easier to put him in a pull-up and not worry about it. Well, Monday, the day before he started school, I went cold turkey and put him in undies. The kid stayed DRY all day! I honestly couldn't believe it, but the next day when I dressed him for school, I went ahead and put undies on him again. I made sure to pack extra clothes and pull-ups in case the morning did not go well. Well, lo and behold, he was dry at pick up! What a celebration!! He is still not really telling me that he needs to go, but as long as I remember to take him to the potty every hour or so, he goes every time and has no accidents. What a big boy! (And yes, there is such a thing as underwater hockey and somehow he has become obsessed with it in the past two weeks. He asks every day if he can be a hockey scuba diver!)
