Cal's Hockey Jamboree 2015

Callan played his one and only game with his hockey team, the Penguins, today at Ridder Arena, where the MN Gophers women's hockey team play. The season for these little Mighty Mites is made up of all practice time so that they get comfortable skating and learning some basic skills. They would play little scrimmages here and there, but no real games until the very end.  He was so excited to get suited up and out on the ice for his big game!

It was quite the comedy of errors that unfolded after that. First, he was accidentally put on the wrong team, so when they called out the kids' names to introduce each player, his wasn't on the list. So then they just looked at his helmet to see his name and called out, "Last but not least...CAL!" It was hilarious as they had used first and last names for every other kid but ours. 

Then he went out on the ice and just did his own thing the entire time. The kids would be huddled around the puck on one end, and there's Cal, skating around all by himself at the other end. He was completely oblivious to what was going on or what he should be doing, but he was having fun. And the boy can skate, soo at least we have that going for us. He definitely won't be drafted by the NHL just yet, but he had a great first year and is excited about more hockey to come!
