New Year's Eve Party

There was no getting out of it this year. The kids started asking for the New Year's Eve Countdown as soon as they realized the new year was on its way. I procrastinated and ended up throwing it all together the evening of, but it was an absolute blast. In keeping with what is evidently a new tradition for us, I wrote down activites and placed them inside balloons. We started at 6:45 pm and popped a balloon every half hour, giving us activities to keep us busy until 9 pm, when we rang in the Brazilian new year and sent everyone to bed. I wonder how long I'll get away with stopping at 9 pm instead of midnight?!

First up--dance party with horns, hats and streamers! Leyton and Callan were SO into this and it was really fun to watch them busting a move.

Next--build your own ice cream sundaes!

In between that and the next activity, we had to stop and let Emme dance to her theme song, All About that Bass.

Activity #3: Treasure Hunt! I always loved a good treasure hunt when I was growing up, and I remember my dad could come up with the best clues! I whipped this up pretty quick, but it was still just tricky enough to make them think a little bit before they found the next clue.
first clue found on the fish aquarium
another clue found inside the kid kitchen
treasure found! hershey's kisses and party poppers in the bathtub!
Then it was time for a silly string fight in the front yard!

Followed by sparklers and a champagne (cranberry spritzer) toast! Happy New Year!
