This has been a big month developmentally for Miss Emmeline. I feel like she has learned so many new things, and her personality has just blossomed tremendously. She is engaging and inquisitive and tries her hardest to communicate in many ways. I just love watching her grow and learn.
She is definitely starting to try to say words, and they are recognizable mostly because of the inflection. She tries to say Elijah whenever she sees him, but usually it comes out "dy da." She also says "daaay!"(yay) all the time and will raise her hands to the sky, and she says "mmmm" whenever she takes a bite of something. Last week we showed her a picture of a cat and taught her the word, so now everything is "ca." And finally, she's waving bye-bye at everyone (backwards) and saying "dy dy," which is absolutely adorable.
Emme is starting to look when we point at things, and even if she doesn't see what we're pointing at, she always looks back at us and smiles happily. She is also trying to share things. If she picks up a cracker, she'll try to give it to me or share her paci with me. I love this interaction and watching her grow literally before my eyes.
Physically, she remains a little chunk muffin. I'm guessing she's 25.5 pounds right now although she hasn't been weighed for a month. She is solid, and that's great since she gets hauled around all over the place by big brothers. Her bottom front two teeth have popped up, and her hair is growing in so much more. It is staying a much darker shade than her brothers with lots of red in the sunlight. I kept thinking she might get those same cute curls that Brody had, and she does when it gets humid outside. :) But the rest of the time it stays more straight. Ems can finally wear a bow with a clip instead of a headband, and it will actually stay in! Of course, until she realizes it's there and pulls it out. :) She is pulling up on everything and starting to cruise a tiny bit. She also likes to walk while holding our hands, and if she sees any stairs whatsoever, she sets off to climb them.
Emme started pulling up in her crib last month, so we finally lowered the mattress. Now I catch her standing up to toss her toys and pacis over the side. She loves to play with her stacking rings toy and to take things out of bins and then put them back in. Daddy loves to play monkey see monkey do with her, getting her to say words and make funny noises. He and brothers can really get her going, laughing and screaming. It is so cute!
Recently, I noticed Emmeline doing something that Brody used to do all the time as a baby. When I nurse her at night before bed, she is starting to twist her hair in her fingers as she falls asleep. It is so very sweet, and I love seeing it again. Makes me remember my sweet baby Brody, too, and how he used to do that all the time. I just love this sweet babyness. It's so hard to let it go, especially knowing that she is my last. When I pick her up, she just wraps her arms around my neck and gently tugs on my hair, and I totally melt. Love this girl so much. We all do.
