Halloween this year was so fun! I cannot tell you how much I look forward to it every year. Wow, have things changed. Before kids I could have cared less about Halloween, but now that I have these three little guys, it changes everything and makes holidays that much more fun!

This year, I opted to throw my costume theme ideas out the window because I quickly realized everyone had their own opinion about things. I originally wanted them to go as Peter Pan, Captain Hook, and the Crocodile, but they were not having it. Brody had his heart set on Captain America, and Leyton was not interested in being a dude in green tights. (I know, I was surprised, too.) So we bought the Captain America costume and then took Leyton to Costco and told him he could pick out whatever he wanted from the five choices they had. He chose the very cool pirate costume--really, the best pirate costume I have ever seen for kids. Callan, as you can imagine, got stuck with the old lion suit at home. They all looked adorable even though they didn't exactly go together!
We trick-or-treated with our buddies Gabriel and Everett around the neighborhood and tried to hit up some houses we hadn't been to before. I had been eyeing some really fun decorations at a house a couple blocks over, so we ventured that way to check them out. A scary talking witch head in a glass dome and an animated life-size zombie chef that removes his own head did not disappoint! Then we headed over to the Rec Center at the park for some hot chocolate and treats and a walk through Willy Wonka's Chocolate Factory. Usually, we end our evening at Way Way's for the annual Halloween block party, but she was out of town this year so we did without our hot dogs and chili at her house. I did whip up a batch of chili at home, and it was darn good!

It wouldn't be Halloween if we didn't make the annual Smith Family Jack-o-Lanterns. Here they are in all their glory! I think Brad outdid himself this year!
Happy Halloween!
