What an exciting day for you, Brody! Today was your first day as a kindergartner! We have waited for this day for a very long time, but now that it's here, I just can't believe it. Last week we visited your new school and met your teacher, Mrs. King. She seems really nice, and I think you are going to love her! You were really shy in the classroom and didn't want to talk much, but I am certain that will change in a matter of days. :) You have been so excited about starting school, but last night you got really nervous. We read "The Night Before Kindergarten," and I think it brought up some concerns you hadn't thought much about before. All of a sudden, you were really worried about riding the bus, eating lunch in the cafeteria, and having to raise your hand to go to the bathroom. I tried to comfort and reassure you that you would love school, and eventually you fell asleep. I hope you had happy dreams!

This morning when we dropped you off, you weren't real sure about this kindergarten business. We stuck around for a few minutes to watch as the students in your class arrived one by one and you got lined up to go to your classroom. By the time we left, you mustered up a smile and a wave, enough to make this mama feel better about leaving her little man in this scary new place.

The end of the day was a completely different story. You literally jumped off the bus smiling from ear to ear, eager to fill me in on all the happenings of the day. Your first words off the bus were "Kindergarten is Awesome!!" You talked my ear off on the 7 block walk home, so much so that I could hardly keep up. I am so proud of you for being brave, and I am so happy that you love kindergarten. I know it's going to be a great year!
