Our little Leyton has reached the 18 month mark, and probably by the time I get this posting completed, he'll be 19 months! But I definitely wanted to share some things that he is doing during this fabulous month and document a few other milestones he's reached.
- At his 18 month check-up, he weighed 23 pounds, dropping him down to the 25th percentile. He's in the 50th percentile for height, measuring 32 1/2 inches. So, he's quite a little guy compared to his big brother. I don't think Brody ever saw the 30th percentile! The doctor says Leyton will probably just be a tall, skinny kid, which makes sense given his parents, but he did encourage me to let him eat lots! He already does, so this won't be a problem!
- He is ALL about his big brother! He wants to be with Brody all the time, and will cry when we leave him at school or if Brad takes him out of the car to run into the store. He also tattles on him quite frequently, usually spouting a string of nonsensical blabber with "Bo-dee" right in the middle somewhere.
- Leyton is speaking very well and has even started stringing two or three words together. He'll say things like, "More strawberries" or "Bo-dee time-out," and it's so nice that I can understand so much of what he says. Makes it really easy to get his needs met easily and quickly.
- He loves singing The Wheels on the Bus and many other songs. He can sit and listen to short board books but is not quite ready for longer stories. He does enjoy sitting and flipping through the pages, but he's not quite the bookworm that Brody is.
- He loves food of all kinds, and his favorite things right now are avocados and grapefruit. He will pretty much try anything, and it's nice that he'll eat whatever we eat. He cut three of his four molars this past month, so now he can chomp even more!
- Leyton has gotten really attached to the stuffed bunny ("Munny") in his crib. He asks for him at bedtime and naptime, and when he wakes up, he usually wants to hold Munny for a few minutes before he's ready to do anything. Brody never developed a lovey, so he doesn't understand why Leyton gets so upset when he tries to take the bunny away!
- This kid has an independent streak that is really coming out, and he is very good at letting us know! He doesn't want us to cut his food anymore unless Brody's is cut, too. That means if we give him a sandwich, he wants the whole thing. If we give him crackers, he wants to take them out of the box himself. If he wants to wear his Crocs, he wants to put them on himself. He gets MAD if we do things any other way, and will either throw his food or just start screaming and carrying on. Wild Man!
- Even though he is growing up too fast for me to believe, he is still my cuddly and affectionate little lover. He will come up to me and say "Kiss" or "Hug" which just melts my heart. And those big baby blues are one of the most precious sights in the whole world!
I know we say it over and over, but we are sure lucky to have this little guy in our lives!
