We've Got a Crawler!

Leyton will be turning 9 months old on Thursday, and I am wishing every day that I could stop time for just a little while.  I purposely remind myself to stop what I'm doing and take it all in--his little coos and babbles, the radiant smiles, the belly laughs, the constant "firsts," and of course, those early morning snuggles that I can't get enough of from either of my two precious boys!  Here's what little Leyton has been doing:

• He finally cut his first tooth last week and loves running his tongue over it.  He was quite fussy over the weekend, even running a fever, and not eating all that much, so I hoped it was a second tooth coming in. Indeed, it cut today, so now you can see two little teeth on the bottom.
  
• We have advanced to actual chunks of food, and so far so good.  He has tried avocado, bananas, watermelon, cantaloupe, mango, green beans, peas, and waffles.  You can tell he is sometimes freaked out by the texture, but if he does spit anything out he will usually pick it right back up and try it again.  He's really working on that little pincer grasp.
  
• Babbling up a storm--right now it's all about dadada and mamama.  If I do it back at him, sometimes he'll break out in a wide grin and other times, when he's grumpy, he shakes his head at me and makes a little grunt like "Stop it, Mom!"  
• Finally, he started crawling yesterday on all fours!  I almost didn't notice b/c he's been mobile now for weeks, so I didn't even realize he was actually moving on his knees (I am blaming that on him being the second kid!)  He does better at crawling when he's on the rugs.  When he's on the wood, I think it's sometimes easier and faster to just do the old scoot.  He loves to go after dirty shoes, Brody's toys, and my jade plant--yuck!
