7 Months Old!

Another month has passed with our sweet sweet girl. Oh, how I wish I could freeze time right at this moment. Emmeline is at the most perfect age, and it is just smiles, fun, and more smiles nearly all the time. Does she have to grow up?

As usual, there are all kinds of "firsts" that happened this month, with the most important being that she is now sitting up completely independently. There is the occasional toppling over (and sometimes bonking the head,) but Emmeline can sit all by herself and play, play, play. I LOVE this age! It is the best to be able to plop her down with some toys and not worry about her crawling off and getting into trouble.

She loves to play with her toys, and anything she picks up gets a good shake to see if it makes noise. I don't remember the boys shaking things as much as she does (I'm sure they probably did, but I don't remember that.) She loves a good rattle!

She makes a ton of noise and is very social. We're not hearing consonant sounds yet, but we get tons of shrieks, squeals, and baby growls.

We're finally starting to see a little more hair, and it's coming in dark! I don't know if that will last, but I am welcoming it. I would love to have a little dark-haired, blue-eyed girl to go along with my three blonde boys!

This month we started incorporating more foods according to the Baby Led Weaning approach, which is an alternative way of feeding solids to your baby. Instead of purees, BLW babies are given "stick" size pieces of whatever foods the family eats. That pretty much means nothing is off limits and that the traditional method of waiting 3-4 days between introducing one food to the next has gone out the window. Our pediatrician seems really excited about this approach, and although I am definitely not going that route completely, it is fun to offer more things sooner just to see what she does with them. Sticks of pancake and large chunks of strawberries, bananas, etc. have been tested and approved by baby girl! We are excited to try even more in the coming weeks.

We also started her on a trainer cup for water, and she loves it. She took to it in no time and is using it independently now. I just can't stop this girl from growing up!

Happy 7 Months, Sweet Emmeline!
