What a fabulous five months it's been with this sweet little girl! She has stolen our hearts and brought incredible joy to our family. Here are some things she's been up to over the past month:
The 4 Month Sleep Regression! Arghhh! I'm not sure that I actually knew this was even a "thing" because I can't remember if the boys went through this or not. But let me tell you, this little princess gave me a run for my money. She hit four months and suddenly didn't sleep AT ALL! At first, I thought it was because she was sleeping in bed with me and waking up because she knew I was there. So, I decided it was time to move her to her own crib. Unfortunately, that didn't solve the problem. In fact, it got much worse. Within a couple of nights, she began waking up every hour all night long. Sometimes she would take a paci and go back to sleep, but most of the time she just wanted to nurse back to sleep. I thought I might lose my mind, but at the same time I've learned from past experiences that everything is just a phase. I kept telling myself to get through it day by day. I turned to my old sleep training books, asked the pediatrician for advice, and just celebrated every little victory. It took awhile, and we're still nowhere near sleeping through he night, but things are SO MUCH BETTER! She's sleeping all night in her own crib, going down at 6:30 pm, and waking up as happy as can be sometime after 7 am. Every night is different and some nights she wakes more frequently than others, but right now I can't complain.
She started rolling from tummy to back. Now we can barely keep her on her tummy because she just pops herself right over. She also found her toes and loves pulling on them. And look at those thighs--I swoon every time I see them! And Leyton is so obsessed with her chubby legs that he undresses her whenever he can just to get his hands on her chunky self!
She is so incredibly smiley and happy. We are so lucky. In fact, all four of my babies have been the most even-tempered, go-with-the-flow, sweet little babies you can imagine. (Too bad they don't stay that way. :) Somebody better remind me of sleepless nights in a year because I just can't imagine not having one of these little muffins to love on. I am addicted!
Just this past week, two older ladies approached me at different times to ooh and aah over Miss Emmeline. Somehow the conversation always came around to breastfeeding, and both of them told me they could tell I nursed her because of her beautiful, radiant skin. I thought that was so odd--two completely separate occasions and two women who didn't even know each other. I don't know if there is any truth to that theory or not, but I have to agree that she is one gorgeous girl! Happy five months sweet baby!
