We spent the last week of summer break sweating it out here in Minneapolis! Man, it was hot!! I tried to plan mostly indoor activities for us to do mainly for my sake, so we ended up at the Children's Museum and Chuck E. Cheese. On Wednesday, we braved the warm weather to play in the splash pool at Wabun Park, and then we had a picnic and did a little hiking around at Minnehaha Falls. This was probably one of the best activities of the entire summer for my little guys. Really, all they need is some time outdoors to explore and discover. They played so well together, and I just relaxed, sitting on a log dangling my feet in the water. :)
The weather did cool down quite a bit over the weekend, so we headed out to the State Fair on Monday. It was a perfect day for it! We had a great time, and thankfully, I didn't put myself into labor with all the walking we did. I also didn't put myself into labor when I lost my firstborn and had to go find him at the police station/lost and found! Yes, you just read that right! We met some friends at the fair, and Brody just adores their son, who is a second grader. We gave them each enough tickets to ride one ride, and they told us they were heading to the Tilt-A-Whirl. Unbeknownst to us, they ditched that plan and decided to try a different ride. So we stood by the Tilt-A-Whirl for quite some time, just waiting for them to return. They never did. We suddenly realized quite a lot of time had passed and we hadn't seen them, so we all separated and began looking all over the Kidway area to see if we could spot them. No luck. To make a long story short, when they realized they couldn't find us, they started searching for us and were found by a concerned lady who turned them in to the ticket booth, who then turned them over to Lost and Found. We found them there, safe and sound, being watched over by the nicest older ladies, and they were totally engrossed in a game of Battleship. Brody said that he did cry at first when he couldn't find us, but he seemed totally fine by then. Funnily enough, he was able to tell them our address but not our phone number. Guess you know what we'll be working on at home!!
Cheers to the last days of summer and being home with all my boys! It's back to school we go!
