Eight Is Great!

Dear Brody,

Today is great because you're eight! I can't believe it! You are getting so old (and so am I, but we won't go there!) I honestly can't comprehend that I have an 8 year-old. You've been a part of our lives for so long now that it's almost hard to remember what life was like before you were in it. And that's ok, because we are so very happy, thankful and lucky to have you as our firstborn!

You are such a great kid, Brody. You are full of life, laughter and a good friend to those around you. You love to crack jokes and make people laugh. You are super active, athletic and STRONG!! It won't be long now before you overpower your mama. 67 pounds of all boy you are! And on top of all that, you are smart, creative, and love to learn. Great things are in store for you my little man.

This morning you jumped out of bed extra early and ran downstairs in your tighty whities to see what goodies were waiting for you. We love to make birthdays special around here, and this one was no exception. You got some great stuff, including street hockey gear, Battroborgs, a new water gun, and some books you had been asking for.

Then we headed into the kitchen to whip up your birthday breakfast. You requested bacon and eggs, and I threw in some cake batter donuts as a little birthday surprise, complete with a candle in the center. They were quite tasty! This afternoon we will celebrate even more with a water gun birthday blowout with many of your friends. We can't wait for the party!!
