Christmas Countdown #21, 22 & 23

Day 21:
What better way to get warm this time of year than to snuggle in a cozy sleeping bag! Tonight, we'll read all our Christmas stories while snuggling in our sleeping bags under the Christmas tree!

Day 22:
All aboard! The Polar Express leaves tonight. Destination--Christmas Light Wonderland! Don't forget your ticket or you'll be left behind!

This was such a fun night! We gave the boys "tickets" to board the Polar Express (our minivan) after their pajamas were on. While Brad got them dressed, I snuck into the kitchen and made popcorn for the journey. We used a Christmas light scavenger hunt list that I found online to give us ideas of things to look for as we drove around and looked at Christmas lights. Some examples were Mrs. Claus, a Nativity, Santa on the Roof, a Snowman, etc. The final house we visited was quite the doozy! We sat in front of it for probably ten minutes just taking it all in. This was a great way to check out the Christmas lights around town, adding a little excitement and activity to the evening.

Day 23:
Have you ever wondered what it's like at the North Pole? How do those elves get all the toys made by Christmas? Today you will take a trip downtown to visit A Day in the Life of an Elf!

I always look forward to the Macy's 8th Floor Display.  This has been a Minneapolis tradition for me personally since Brad and I were first dating, and for those who were raised here, there are even more fun memories of going downtown to attend this fun event each year. The exhibit hasn't changed the past few years, which at first was kind of a bummer as I always looked forward to seeing the different scenes and stories, but since it's the only one my kids have ever seen, it's now become a special tradition for us as a family. We love to walk as slowly as we can through each room, just taking it all in. Then we head on up to the Sky Room for lunch and free cookies.  Mmm!
