A Party for a Prince!

This family has been celebrating one birthday after another, and on September 10th, we hosted a royal tea for our sweet Prince Leyton, who turned 3 years old! It was a magical morning full of fun, friends, and family to share in Leyton's special day!

As you know if you've been reading my blog for the past year, Leyton has taken quite a liking to all things princess. He loves to dress up in my skirts and heels and is drawn to all the princess dolls whenever we visit Target or any other store with toys. I knew it would be fitting to give him a royal themed bash, and he loved every minute of it!

We decorated the house in turquoise and chocolate brown with streamers, ribbons, and a sparkly crown tossed here and there. For the food, we decided to do tea sandwiches, fruit, and cheese. Cookie cutters helped to make the little sandwiches super cute, and we served pb&j, chicken salad, and cucumber/cream cheese. I also tossed in a plate of crown-shaped homemade graham crackers, a surefire hit with my kids!

I wanted the cake to be truly magical, but I didn't want to spend a fortune having someone else make it. After spending many hours browsing the internet for all the "castle cake" ideas, I finally combined all my favorite ideas into a design of my own. Thanks to Oma's magic and Brad's architectural expertise, we were able to make the cake come to life. Leyton absolutely loved it! Covered in marshmallows, chocolate m&m's, and silver sparkly stars, he thought he had literally gone to heaven!

pretty good for a couple of amateurs, huh?

We asked the guests to come in "royal" attire, and they did not disappoint! Brody, of course, wore his knight costume, and we bought Leyton a king costume for his special birthday celebration. My mom even brought out my old tiara from when I won Miss Eagle Lake back in high school! Leyton loved his costume but preferred Mommy's tiara over his puffy king hat. :)

A royal celebration would not be complete without a castle, so we rented a bounce castle for the backyard. Let me tell you--this was the best idea I've had all summer! Since the party was in the morning, the rental company decided to drop it off the day before so that we would be sure to have it all set up in time for the party. We ended up getting to keep it for over 48 hours--pretty much the whole weekend. My boys loved it, and I'm pretty sure the party guests did as well! :)

bounce castles are fun for everyone! (couldn't resist posting, geri! too cute!)

love this sweet princess! (brody took this picture--isn't it great?)

Before sending our guests on their merry way, we treated them to a cruise through the royal candy bar, where they filled their crown bags with all sorts of decadent treats. (If anyone needs blue and white candy, please let me know! I have so much left over!)

I owe a special thanks to my mom who helped me immensely with making this party happen! I couldn't have done it without you! After hosting three birthday parties in less than two months, I'm pretty tired out. But I am so glad that we were able to give each of our boys a special celebration. And I'm already looking forward to next year's birthday bash...robot dance party, anyone?!

Awesome party Rach! Perhaps you could be a party planner and start coordinating all my parties!
