10 Happy Months!

Baby Callan turned 10 months old right under my nose, and I hardly even realized it! I can't believe he's almost a whole year old! How can this be? Really! I feel like he only just joined our family, and now he'll probably be walking around in two months or so!

This is such a great age--not very peaceful, but great! So many new things to see, touch, taste, and explore, and he is on the move nonstop until he shuts his weary little eyes and falls asleep at night! We've hit some big milestones this month:

CRAWLING! Yep, Callan is officially on the move and watch out world, here he comes! From the second I put him down on the floor, he is off, and he is fast, so I have to keep my eyes on him before he finds that almond that was dropped on the floor, or the dog's water bowl, or the nasty toilet brush...it's endless excitement around here!
(Since his 10 month birthday, he has also started pulling up on just about anything and climbing stairs! See, it just gets more and more fun...and dangerous!)

NO MORE BABY FOOD! Yay, this is such a great feeling! I love that we can give Callan whatever we are eating (for the most part,) and he eats it right up. He screeches and waves his arms to let us know when he wants something we have, and he is NOT satisfied with having anything less. It is so much easier to feed a family when we can all just have the same thing for dinner. :) Still no teeth, and still no sign of any. Kind of wondering at this point if there are any teeth in those gums of his!

100% WEANED! I wrote that as if I am really excited about it, and I guess in some ways I am. Callan decided he was done with nursing somewhere between months 9 and 10. It was a little earlier than I wanted or planned, but I have to admit that it is nice to be able to just give him a bottle and let him feed himself, especially when we need to be somewhere and he can take the bottle in the car. I do miss having that sweet cuddle time, though. Just a sign that's he's really growing up! He likes his bottle ok, but he doesn't seem to really love it. In fact, he's already starting drinking formula from a sippy cup just fine, and I feel like I could almost just do away with the bottle completely and only use the cup. But I kind of like him with a bottle...he stays a baby longer that way. :)

EXCELLENT SLEEPER! This baby absolutely loves his crib. It's kind of funny to see just how happy he is when I put him in it. He immediately shimmies himself to the corner, headfirst, and sticks his head right in the bumper, where he stays until he falls asleep. I love love love this. So cute!

Here are some recent videos:

First Day of Crawling!! He was super proud of himself!

Favorite activity right now, other than getting in the dog bowls...pushing cars around on the floor...

Exploring his world...

he is adorable rachel! He sounds like Mark at bed time, that boy loves his crib and nestles into the bumper like that too. So sweet!
