We had a very blessed Thanksgiving this year, and we hope you did, too! We enjoyed a visit from Grandaddy, Grandma, Aunt Allyson, and Aunt Bethany who left their warm 80 degree weather in Texas to bask in the sunshine and warmth in Minnesota. Wait, did I say warmth? Maybe if you're an Eskimo! It was a sultry 15 degrees on Thanksgiving Day!! The snow and cold didn't stop us from getting out and enjoying our time together. These guys were troopers. :)
I spent most of Thursday in the kitchen whipping up our feast, but that was fine by me. I love spending time cooking, and thankfully everything turned out great, even the gravy that was a borderline disaster (thanks to Brad who saved it before it became inedible!) The boys had a super fun time sledding in the front yard with their GDaddy and Aunties while I manned the stovetop and oven. After our yummy eats, the men settled in to watch football while the rest of us challenged Brody to a few games of Candyland, Memory, and even his first game of dominoes!
Allyson, Brody, Leyton, and GDaddy at the top of our hill.
This girl is having knee surgery later this month, and she was still out there sledding like a maniac!
Bethany had to get in on the fun, too!
Just LOVE the rosy cheeks!
Happy First Thanksgiving, Mr. Callan!

The only wrinkle in our otherwise perfect day was our crazy-headed idea to go to the 10 pm opening of Toys R Us for some early Black Friday deals. I don't know what we were thinking, and all I can say is that was consumerism at its worst! Bethany and I spent the whole time dodging elbows and rude comments from people who kept thinking we were trying to cut in line while Brad spent 2 hours in a line because the check-out people were complete morons and couldn't figure out how to operate faster than a snail's pace. Thankfully, we left the kiddos at home with the grandparents; otherwise, it would have been even worse!
On Friday, we decided to brave the cold temps once more and head out to Rum River Tree Farm to select and cut down our Christmas tree. Maybe not the best idea as it was really frigid that day, and my husband is extremely picky when it comes to Christmas trees, but we eventually found THE tree, managed to get it cut and tied down to the Explorer, and then stopped for some yummy hot chocolate on the way home to warm ourselves back to normal body temperature. 650 lights and 4 tubs of Christmas ornaments later, I think it looks quite beautiful!

Glad everyone had a great time. The tree looks really nice, and did you put it in the front room? Have you made any plans for Christmas? Oma
