This past weekend the Smith Family headed out with our good friends the Dahms, Hokansons, Springborns, and Lees to Baker Park Reserve for a weekend of camping adventures! Brad and I had not been camping since we lived in Colorado, so camping with kids was a new experience for us! It was a ton of fun, and I wish we had more time this summer to go again before the baby comes. The campground is just outside the Twin Cities, so it is an easy twenty minute drive away, and it has great amenities--a pretty beach, nice paved biking trails, a beautiful playground, and best of all, nice clean bathrooms!! (which I had to use often in my big-bellied state!) It was fun to break out all of our old camping gear that we've had stored away since we moved here, including our old hand-me-down tent that I used to sleep in as a kid. It was a perfect size for the four of us, and Brody was thrilled to get to sleep in his own sleeping bag for the first time! Brad was a master of the camp stove, whipping up breakfast in the morning, and we grilled chicken wings over the campfire for a very yummy dinner on Saturday night. There is just something I love about camping, so it was great to get out and try it again. We hope to make it a new summer tradition!

Brad helped the kids dig a big trench in the sand.
Leyton tries out Lily's trike.
This was hilarious! Brad led the kids in song as they used their sticks as instruments.
This kid LOVES the water!

Everyone wanted to get buried!
Here are some videos taken of the kiddos getting buried in the sand...Smiles all around!
