On Sunday, my birthday, we decided to pack up the kids and Oma and head to an apple orchard for the day. We love going to the orchards during the fall--they always put us in the autumn spirit! As we were driving down the highway, however, we saw the sign for The Renaissance Festival that takes place all during the month of September. Now, I haven't been to the RF since I was a little girl, and all I could remember about it was that I came home with a cone-shaped princess hat and that I rode on an elephant. For whatever reason, we decided to make a detour and check it out. Brody, funnily enough, was dressed the part in his gold crown from Leyton's b-day party the day before. We knew he would love it, and I think we all secretly hoped that we would, too. :)
It was fun--interesting, but fun! We caught a couple of shows, did a treasure hunt in the children's area, found the beautiful fairy, Twig, made a magic wand, and rode on both a pony and an elephant. Brody had a fabulous time and was just beat when we left. Lasting impressions from the day?--Very hot and dusty, interesting people watching, and I really hate Porta-Potties. Brad says it was something he could see us going to maybe once every five years. I don't know, I'm on the fence. I did really have fun, and it was great for the kids, but I really hate Porta-Potties! In any event, "Huzzah! Long live the king!"
