Happy Birthday to our Little Prince!

I remember it so clearly...

In anticipation of a scheduled induction, I chose to eat chicken curry for dinner because I thought it would taste good in the event it came back up during labor...contractions started while I was talking to my sister Allyson on the phone, around 7:30 pm the evening of September 10th, 2008. By the time I got off the phone, I told her to tell Dad that I might be heading to the hospital pretty soon as I was sure my contractions were the real thing. After another hour, I was really sure. I remember getting to the hospital and worrying that I would be sent home because I hadn't had a contraction the whole way to the hospital.  I made Brad sit in the car with me and start timing them again. When we finally made it inside, we were reassured that things were progressing quickly. Very quickly, in fact. By 11:45 pm, I was ready to push. I remember Brad saying, "Come on Rachel.  You can do it.  You've got fifteen minutes to give this baby a September 10th birthday. You can do it!"  :) Well, we almost made it.  At 12:17 am on September 11, baby Leyton made his grand entrance and our lives were changed in an instant.  And it doesn't matter for a second when his birthday is--the day he entered our lives will forever be a day of celebration. We are so blessed, and I hope my littlest lovey has an amazing first birthday today! Happy Birthday, Leyton!!
