10 Months!
I feel like I just wrote Leyton's nine-month update a few days ago, and now it's already time for the ten-month!  I can't believe my baby is growing so fast. He is literally changing every day--it is just incredible. Ten months ago I had a tiny, red-faced, wrinkly little peanut who came out kicking and screaming, protesting his eviction from Mommy's nice warm belly to his new cold and crazy world. He was so tiny, so sweet, so perfect. And now....well, now we've got a full-fledged bundle of happiness and curiosity, a sweet little man who always has a smile for everyone, who lights up when he sees his brother, and just soaks it all in with a laid back grin. Still so sweet and so perfect, but not so tiny! He's growing way too fast!

These days with Leyton are busy, to say the least.  He is into everything--the dog food, the bathroom trash, the dirty shoe tray by the front door, the mulch in the flowerbed, and the list goes on.  If he sees it, he finds a way to get to it, and it will most definitely find its way to his mouth.  Funny that he already understands the word "no," but he doesn't always listen! Most of the time he'll just look up with the sweetest, most mischievous little smile you've ever seen, and then go right back to doing what he is doing.  Boy oh boy, are we in for it when he starts walking!

Changing the little man's diapers requires a straitjacket.  The second you plop him on his back for a diaper change, he tries to flip over onto his belly and crawl away.  I have given up using the change table--too much work!  Now I sit down on the floor and literally hold him down with my feet while my hands work on undressing and dealing with the diaper.  It can sometimes be so frustrating, especially when I'm in a bit of a hurry, but it's kind of cute at the same time to watch him be so persistent at getting away!  And when he does manage to escape, there could not be anything more adorable than watching his naked little bum scurrying away as fast as he can go!

Leyton has gone on a baby food strike this week. He will have absolutely nothing to do with it anymore.  He wants to feed himself by himself, so that's what we're doing now. This week we tried baked beans, tofu, couscous, oatmeal and black beans, all of which were happily accepted by his not-so-picky palate.  In many ways, it's easier because now he'll just eat whatever we're having, but in other ways, it's harder. He makes one gigantic mess!  I have to sweep and mop a lot more often now--or just call in my trusty vacuum that answers to the name "Elijah!" Nursing is winding down these days. My body is slowing down the milk production, and I am only nursing at night. This is bittersweet for me.  I really love being able to feed my baby with something that is created inside my own body. I love the closeness and comfort that it brings to both of us. However, I've also been bitten and pinched now a handful of times, and wow, does it hurt! So in some ways I am ready to move on and have total control of my body once more. But I know I'm gonna miss it.

Is it already time to start thinking about another baby?!?  :)

Look at him go!  He had NO help climbing up the four stairs you see in this picture. Yikes!
